“I started this company in 2009 because I was tired of watching my neighbors get hit with surprise charges on moving day,” says owner Travis Holloway. Travis grew up off Wrightsville Avenue, a few blocks from the drawbridge, and spent his twenties loading containers at the Port of Wilmington and running a beach-rental truck up and down US-17. He knew the roads, the buildings, and how a fair day’s work was supposed to feel.

American Pro Movers is exactly what it sounds like: real movers, our own trucks, and a crew that shows up on payroll. We are a 16-person team with 11 full-time movers, and we do not subcontract a single job or hand your move off to a stranger. When you book with us, the people who give you the quote are the people who load the truck.

How we work is simple. We come out, look at what you have, and write one flat-rate quote so you know the number before the ramp comes down. A $99 deposit holds your date. We pad-wrap furniture, shrink-wrap upholstery, and treat a third-floor walk-up at Carolina Beach the same way we treat a single-story ranch off College Road. Released-value coverage at $0.60 per pound is included, full-value protection runs 1 to 3 percent, and every truck carries a $1,000,000 cargo policy.

We chose to stay rooted in Wilmington because this is home. We know which downtown blocks on Market Street are tight, which beach condos have a single freight elevator, and how to plan around hurricane season from June through November. That local knowledge saves you time, and time saves you money.

How we got here

• 2009 — Travis buys his first 24-foot truck and starts taking local jobs across New Hanover County.
• 2013 — Second truck added; the crew grows past part-time and moves into a real office downtown.
• 2016 — Earns interstate USDOT/MC authority and begins running long-distance flat-rate moves up the coast.
• 2019 — Adds climate-aware storage handling and a dedicated beach-condo crew for Wrightsville and Kure.
• 2024 — Settles into the Suite 200 office on North Front Street with 11 full-time movers.
